Reporting to the DC Operations Manager, the Team Manager will be

responsible for end to end leadership of an assigned shift within the Distribution Centre. This role is accountable for:

  • Safe execution of all warehouse activities
  • Delivery of daily service and dispatch targets
  • Labour efficiency and cost control
  • Team performance, behaviour and capability
  • Automation performance (where applicable)

The Team Manager ensures operational stability, consistent standards, and clear accountability across their shift while developing Team Leaders and Leading Hands to build long term capability.

This is a leadership and decision-making role. Not a task based supervisory position. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a proactive safety‑first culture by enforcing WHS compliance, identifying and escalating hazards, ensuring safe MHE and high‑risk activity management, and driving reduction of repeat incidents
  • Oversee end‑to‑end daily operations by managing all workflow streams, adjusting labour and resources in real time, and resolving automation issues to maintain smooth, efficient, and on‑time performance
  • Lead, coach, and develop leaders through clear expectations, ongoing performance management, and effective workforce planning, while driving engagement, accountability, and ownership across the shift
  • Optimise labour and resourcing by allocating staff based on workload, managing overtime risks, and improving productivity to reduce cost‑to‑serve and maximise automation ROI
  • Ensure disciplined and accurate use of WMS, GTP, and scanning systems while monitoring and escalating automation issues, driving strong process adherence to prevent errors and maintain operational reliability
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying workflow enhancements, supporting new process and structural changes, collaborating cross‑functionally, and contributing to peak and seasonal planning.
